The list of seabirds sighted off the Kaikoura Coast include five species of great albatross, up to ten species of the smaller lesser albatross (commonly referred to as mollymawks), ten species of shearwaters, fifteen species of petrel, and several other species of seabirds such as shags, prions, penguins, gulls and terns.

Children aged 3 and over are able to participate on the Albatross Encounter tour when accompanied by an adult subject to conditions on the day.&nbsp; The skipper may deem the weather and sea condition unsuitable for children to partake in the tour and in this instance refunds are available. Children under 3 years are not permitted on board.

Albatross Encounter tours operate all-year-round.

Oct-Apr Albatross Encounter Tours are scheduled daily at 9.00am and 1.00pm.

In winter 2021 (May-Sept) tours are scheduled once daily at 10.00am.

Shortly after taking off, you&#39;ll start to encounter the&nbsp;magnificent birdlife&nbsp;on the open ocean, including&nbsp;albatross, shearwaters, petrels, penguins, gannets, skuas, terns and more!

This is a&nbsp;small group tour,&nbsp;providing an intimate and unique experience to get up close with the marine life and seabirds in the area, with&nbsp;spectacular views of the stunning Kaikoura Coast also included.&nbsp;&nbsp;

 
The extended 4-hour Albatross Encounter is also a great option for bird enthusiasts who want to spend more time on the water.&nbsp;

During your trip, you can also make use of the onboard guides, hear about the amazing array of birdlife from knowledgeable staff, and access a&nbsp;complete species list PLUS souvenir information pack to identify and learn more about the birds&nbsp;you see.
